This past fall, Stamps.com announced a partnership with UPS®, introducing a number of pre-negotiated shipping rates and discounts for its users. You may be wondering: How does this affect me and my business?

And, as such, UPS plays an important role in global e-commerce and shipping logistics. In addition to these discounted rates, UPS also offers a guaranteed delivery program, which refunds shipping charges if a package is delivered later than the committed time.

What are the UPS® discounted shipping rates?
With savings of up to 72% off UPS 2nd Day Air® and 77% off UPS® Ground Daily Rates,* these reduced rates practically mean you may be eligible to ship two packages for the price of one. As part of the agreement, you’re also able to avoid certain surcharges typically added to the price of shipping—saving you even more in the long run. Plus, there’s no minimum shipping volume required to take advantage of these discounts through ShipEngine.

When can I expect to see the UPS® reduced rates reflected in my ShipEngine account?
In March 2020, these UPS® shipping rates will become available to new and existing ShipEngine users based in the United States.
What if I already use my own negotiated UPS® rates?
The new UPS discounts will not affect any rates negotiated outside of ShipEngine. If you prefer to use your own shipping rates—regardless of carrier—you will be able to do so by connecting your existing accounts directly through your ShipEngine dashboard.
What actions do I need to take in order to benefit from these discounted shipping rates?
Every ShipEngine user qualifies for the reduced UPS rates through ShipEngine. Different types of users will need to follow different steps to take advantage of these rates.
For new users, this change happens automatically upon completion of your ShipEngine carrier account setup. After gaining access to your dashboard, you will navigate to the Connections tab and select the purple “+ Setup” button. During this step, you will be prompted to set up your free Stamps.com account and add billing information for any postage fees. No existing UPS account will be required.
Funds for your UPS shipments will be managed from within your ShipEngine dashboard. As long as your billing information is up-to-date, no additional action will be required in order to generate the discounted shipping labels.
Existing ShipEngine users will follow the same steps to setup their UPS wallet through the ShipEngine dashboard. This new account will automatically import the new rates, allowing you to immediately resume shipping once the new account is linked. We will be sending an email to all existing users in the coming weeks that further details the steps required to start taking advantage of these pre-negotiated shipping rates.
