🎉 ShipEngine is becoming ShipStation API 🎉

Over the next few months you'll notice the ShipEngine website, documentation portal, and dashboard being rebranded as ShipStation API. For our ShipEngine customers, you don't need to take any action or change any of your integrations in any way. All endpoints will remain the same and continue to function as they always have.

To learn more about what's coming, review our New ShipStation API page.

ShipEngine Rebranding as ShipStation API

The ShipEngine product is not changing and no action is required from you to accommodate this change.

On February 28th, 2025, ShipEngine rebranded as ShipStation API. Our ShipEngine websites, docs portal, and help center will be updated in the coming months to reflect the name and brand changes.

All endpoints and methods, URLs, contracts, integrations, API keys, and support addresses will remain the same.

FAQ

What is ShipStation API and how is it different from ShipEngine?

ShipStation API is the new name for ShipEngine. We are combining the robust features and capabilities of the ShipEngine product under the trusted ShipStation brand name.

Why is this change happening?

Unifying ShipEngine under ShipStation allows us to leverage the strengths of the ShipStation brand, delivering additional investment and a more comprehensive shipping management solution for our customers. This means you benefit from more carriers, services, features, and improved customer service.

Do I need to make any changes as a current ShipEngine user?

No! Existing integrations and workflows remain unchanged.

I noticed that the ShipEngine URL hasn't changed. Why?

We are ensuring a seamless transition without breaking existing API integrations. We’ll share further updates as the transition continues.

Will you be changing the URL and could that change affect my API integrations?

No, your API integrations will continue working as usual. We have ensured that all existing endpoints remain functional and any future changes will be communicated well in advance.

I see multiple ShipStation APIs available. Which one is which, and how do I know which one I’m using?

We currently have three separate APIs in use:

  • ShipEngine - Our end-to-end, stand-alone shipping API, which we are rebranding to ShipStation API. It provides the richest developer functionality and multiple market shipping origin support, as well as the largest catalog of carriers and services in the industry.
  • ShipStation API V1 - This is our original openAPI for ShipStation, which has been active for over a decade! This API and its associated endpoints will be deprecated at some future date (but don’t worry, we’ll give plenty of notice before this happens).
  • ShipStation API V2 - Currently available as a companion API to our ShipStation application. ShipStation API V2 leverages the power of ShipEngine but with full compatibility with ShipStation’s interface and big improvements over ShipStation’s previous API (AKA ShipStation API V1).
